Jimi Hendrix

A painting of guitarist Jimi Hendrix which I completed as a gift to my father this Christmas past.
Original Size: 15 in. x 20 in.

A bit of a brighter colour pallette than I am wont to work with, but my father was very happy with it (as am I). The background is Peter Max inspired. For those of you unaware of who he is, Peter Max is an artist whose work was very popular during the 1960s and 70s (and a fellow Pratt graduate, as I came to learn). Jimi himself was done in acrylics and some inks (both for the flat black areas and the outline around him). The background was done in watercolours, mostly, save for the white section the stars are falling out of, and the sun, which were done in molding paste and acrylics; again, inks were used for the outlines there as well. I also used metallic paints for all of the metal bits (including some highlights on the strings, which are, unfortunately, only visible in the original) - another first for me. I hope you all enjoy it.
